Ghinis Boats - The first aluminum boat - A Unique Boat

Brazilian entrepreneur patents innovative aluminum boat and seeks investors

Jorge Ghinis had the idea of making an aluminum boat, with an external engine support system. The project, internationally patented, is taking shape and is now looking for investors to accelerate the business.

Ghinis Boats is the company founded by businessman and entrepreneur Jorge Ghinis who is at the origin of the creation of a new idea of a boat built in aluminum that has the particularity of having an exclusive and patented external outboard motor support system. The fact that it is made of aluminum “is safer and can be melted at the end of its life”, explains the founder of the project.

Measuring 33 feet (approximately 11 meters), the boat was designed in Brazil, by B&G Yacht Design and the hull, which has already been built, by a Dutch company. The electrical and hydraulic part remains to be implemented. It is a recreational boat, for family use, designed to take advantage of the stern space normally occupied by the engine, since, when stopped, the engine can be diverted to the sides of the boat. With this possibility, you can store, for example, a jet ski or install a mini pool (see video).

As the Ghinis Boats mentor explained, the boat is designed “to serve several market niches”. In fact, he added, it allows the movement of people with reduced mobility. “Our patent brings the best of both worlds to boats, as it uses external engines that are cheaper, more economical, lighter and easier to maintain compared to internal engines, in addition to freeing up space at the stern”, explained Jorge Ghinis.

The project’s patent has already been filed in Brazil, the European Union, China, India, Canada and the USA. At this moment, the project creator is interested in finding investors who can contribute 1 million euros to the project, in the case of all markets, 400 thousand if the investment is oriented only towards the European market or 200 thousand for the North American market , and contribute to accelerating the business. He also highlights that, for example, “the investor can use his investment to obtain an E-2/EB-5 visa for the USA or the Startup Visa in Portugal”.

His plans include the intention of having a production unit in Portugal, another in Brazil and another in the USA, especially because, he explains, “the boat’s manufacturing investment is low and the margin is very good”.

With the North American market in mind, Ghinis Boats also plans to carry out a crowdfunding campaign on the Wefunder platform, which should be activated in due course.

An idea that started in Brazil
Jorge Ghinis’ career, despite his training in data processing, has been linked to the nautical industry for around 15 years and began in Brazil, more precisely in São Paulo and Curitiba. Businessman and entrepreneur, this 57-year-old Brazilian moved to Portugal, where he has lived for six years, always with the idea of creating a new model of boat, until now always with his own investment.
